Bufo bufo (Common Toad)
General description:
The common toad has only been recorded on the west coast of Isle of Lewis and like the common frog it is probably an introduced species.
As an introduced species we are interested in its distribution and records of adults, tadpoles and spawn are of great interest.

Diagnostic description:
Varying in colour from dark brown to grey and olive green with a warty skin common toads are easy to identify.
They have broad, squat bodies and tend to walk rather than hop.
