Pieris napi (Green-veined White)
General description:
Widely distributed throughout the Outer Hebrides the green-veined white is the most common of the white butterflies in the islands.
Diagnostic description:
The green-veined white is a similar size to the small white and althought the green-yellow veining of the underwing is a clear diagnostic feature, the upper wings are very similar. However, the black tip in the green-veined white is usually less well defined and extends in blotches along the wing edge.
