Scaeva  

A distinctive genus with an inflated frons, large hairy eyes and a dip in the R₄₊₅ wing vein more marked than in other Syrphini species. Only four species have been recorded in the UK and they tend to be migratory; however, only S. pyrastri has been recorded in the Outer Hebrides.
