Rana temporaria (Common Frog)
General description:
This species is widespread in mainland Britain and, although locally common in the islands, it is an introduced species. Frog spawn was bought to the islands in the 1970s and tadpoles and young frogs were later released.
We are interested in mapping the distribution of frogs and all records of frog spawn, tadpoles or eggs are welcome.

Diagnostic description:
Common frogs vary in colour from grey, olive green and yellow to brown and are able to lighten or darken their skin to match their surroundings.
