Ischnura elegans (Blue-tailed Damselfly)
General description:
A common species, widely distributed throughout the islands.
Diagnostic description:
A highly variable species with both males and females displaying age-related and genetically determined colour forms. Males have a green or blue thorax and a bright blue band on segment 8. Females may have a similar colour pattern, or display varying combinations of black, green violet and orange.
