Eristalis arbustorum
General description:
A common species often found visiting a wide range of flowers particularly umbelliferas and thistles.
Diagnostic description:
The yellow dusted face is distinctive, but with age it can can be rubbed off to show black patches. The wing stigmata is diffuse and the middle tibia are pale with a darkened metatarsal joint. The hind metatarsus is dark and as thick as the tibia.
