SUMMARY
The clouded yellow is a migrant species which has been recorded in the island from time to time. Although some of these golden-yellow butterflies are seen in the UK in most years the species is famous for occasional mass immigrations. In these years the butterflies occassionally arrive in the Outer Hebrides. The last "clouded yellow year" in the islands was in 1992 and there have been no subsequent records.
