SUMMARY
This is a rare butterfly in the islands. Towards the northern and eastern margins of its range, the Speckled Wood breeds only in woodland habitats and therefore has a very restricted distribution in the islands. It is only commonly recorded at one location on the Isle of Lewis from March to October
