Coenonympha pamphilus (Small Heath)
General description:
Found on grassland where there are fine grasses, especially in habitats where the sward is short and sparse. There are very few records for Harris and Lewis, but this is probably due to under-recording.

This small brown butterfly always settles with its wings closed, where the single eyespot on the underside of the forewing is usually visible
